SOUNDCLOUD. MIXCLOUD. MIXCRATE.
It was so great watching performance of entire “s(o)un(d)beams” album and their cover / interpretation of the Beach Boys’ “Heroes and Villains” and Yoko Ono “Calling.” (I suppose they performed one more cover tune at the very final of the show, but I don’t know the name of it.)
Anyway, their cover of “Heroes and Villains” were so great, I’m really, overwhelmed. It starts with “Our Prayer” and “Gee”, and the H&V was the Brian’s 2004 sequence basically. (Unfortunately, there wasn’t “IN THE CANTINA” verse. I don’t know why, well, I wanna ask Mr. Oyamada about it…) Oyamada played bass, Yumiko Ohno of Buffalo Daughter played keyboard, Asa-chang on drums, Kohki Takai on guitar, and four-parts harmony vocals. I really loved their version. I hope it’ll be included on their live dvd which will come out someday. (They actually recorded and shot.)
Performances from their album were also great, of course. Every song was very beautiful, and well-constructed. But for a few songs, I guess they didn’t run click / daw back track sequences. Almost full-live band music.
The venue, was too far from Tokyo, and sound quality wasn’t good. That’s the only negative point that I felt. Too much reverb, and mixing wasn’t good neither. I hoped they do that at Tokyo International Forum or other places ‘round Tokyo.
